Seaside...or The End

So the statue at the end of the trail...in Seaside and not Astoria. The statue is at the end of the road right next to the beach tucked in between the taffy shop an hotels.

So thanks for everyones email and support along the way. Now go out and ride around on your bike...and in case I don't see you...good afternoon...good evening... and good night. (been waiting 3400 miles to say that)

Fort Clatsop

So prior to returning home, the expedition spent the winter at this fort. Of the three forts they built, it's by far the nicest...they got better as they went along

Study in Contrast

I guess I have forgotten my geography, what a contrast from two days ago when there wasn't a tree or piece of grass to get some shade. You pick up some grass around The Dalles and by the time you are leaving Hood River your picking out home lots. I like this lot...

No Claim

On a side note..I arrived at the other side of the trail in one piece..no cougar scars. I did notice that the sign on this side of the trail had a slightly more recent date of...yesterday

World Famous

Hewn out of solid rock the Mosier Twin Tunnels are a testament to a by gone era of road construction...and kind of neat to ride through especially since there wasn't a cougar waiting to pounce on the other side. The answer is yes...my windows were rolled down and I did honk...or at least ring the bell as I went through the tunnel.

Insurance Coverage Question

So before I get on the trail to Hood River I need to know if being eaten by a cougar is covered under the accidental death and dismemberment clause of my life insurance policy. If I don't get an answer in the next couple of minutes, I'll assume I'm covered and will press on...anyone...nope? Onward then!!

I knew there was a reason...

to ride all the way here...fruit stands...I've waited 3200 miles for a fruit stand. Suddenly, it's not that hot...could be the shade trees which I haven't had till now.

It's amazing what 3 or 4 pints of berries will do for your outlook on the day :)

Interstate travel

I hate riding on the interstate. It wouldn't be bad as the road is pretty flat, nice shoulders but every time I've done it, there has been road construction. I thought I was in luck this time until a couple miles before my exit and it hit...so I road in the construction zone and instead of dodging tire tread, I dodged construction workers. $2000 fine if I hit one.
